An old bomb damaged building plot that over the years had unfortunately become an area of misuse.
The site situated at the rear of the BRI hospital was in a prominent position that our client received the benefit of planning permission in order to provide for contemporary houses complete with roof gardens that benefitted from prominent views over Bristol City Centre.
The site was particularly challenging not least because the ground conditions were poor and the scheme required specialist rock socketing in order to provide a secure foundation. Also every inch of the footprint of the site was built upon which required careful logistical organisation in respect of the delivery and storage of materials together with the health, safety and welfare of both site staff and the adjoining neighbours. Similarly the close proximity of the site to the BRI hospital meant that all highway routes needed to be kept open for emergency vehicles at all time.
The scheme provided for a timber frame structure with a render finish externally over 3 floors with very imaginative roof gardens incorporated so as to benefit from the views over Bristol.
