A very pretty cottage set within one of the most beautiful villages on the outskirts of Bath.
The cottage was relatively small and our client required additional living space and remodelling of the existing living space at ground floor level. The scheme in essence comprised of an extension to both the front and rear elevations so as to provide for a kitchen / dining area, ground floor cloakroom, utility space, sitting room and living room.
The extensions were contemporary in their design yet still used very traditional building materials including substantial use of Bath Stone, oak timber frame structures, oak joinery, slate and lead roofs. One of the key attractions of the design was the amount of additional light afforded to the building.
As part and parcel of the works there was a full upgrade of internal services to both plumbing, heating and electrical installation, both hardwood and lime stone flooring was incorporated internally with natural stone paving and natural stone walling externally.
